Features & Opinions

Cleaning Modes:

According to the table Oral B 7000 has 6 brushing modes compared to Diamonclean’s 5 modes. To be honest, we feel like all these cleaning modes are just marketing ”spoof” made by the manufacturers to add value to their products.

Most people don’t really use the ”tongue mode” or the ”massage mode”. Most probably you will use them at the beginning just to test them and after that you’ll never bother using them again.

So this feature is not something that will affect our decision.

Battery & Charging:

Both manufacturers state that both toothbrushes charge in 24 hrs or less, which is an acceptable period. It terms of how long the battery lasts in a single charge it seems that Philips Sonicare Diamondclean, beats its rival.

Philips battery lasts for 3 weeks on a single charge while Oral B’s 7000 lasts not even 10 days, according to some reviewers from amazon.

After we saw these kind of reviews for Oral B we immediately searched inside the critical reviews section for Philips Sonicare Diamondclean as well. Although there were many 1,2 and 3 ratings none of them mentioned anything about its battery.

So in terms of battery lasting more, Philips Sonicare Diamondclean is the clear Winner.

Both Toothbrushes come with a travel case which helps a lot if you are a frequent traveller. Not to mention that both cases are sleek and stylish.

Also it’s good that both models come with spare toothbrush heads. Oral B 7000 offers 3 replacement heads instead of two Philips Sonicare Diamondclean offers and that’s a plus.

Oral B 7000 kicks-ass for having the bluetooth connection feature that allows you to connect to your smartphone and keep track of your brushing routine. Some people say that this feature is not worth it, but in terms of technology advancement Oral B really shows its teeth and we love it.

So, in terms of extra features, Oral B 7000 kicks-ass in this duel!

Philips Sonicare Diamondclean delivers 31000 ”strokes” (up & down) per minute.

Oral B 7000 on the other delivers 800 movements per second which translates to 48 000 movements per minute.

If power is something that matters most to you then it is clear which one is most suitable for you. In our opinion though, a toothbrush that delivers more than 31000 movements per minute is Ok. You don’t need more movements to get healthier teeth,

Apart from that, we are still giving our +1 to Oral B 7000 because they openly state that with their 3D cleaning system (rotates, oscillates and pulsates) they get 22% more plaque removed than Philips Sonicare Diamondclean. If that was not backed up by some scientific research you can be sure that Philips would start ”raining” Legal suits towards Oral B.

Pressure Sensor:

For this feature, the answer is short and easy. Oral B 7000. They have it as a feature while Philips Sonicare Diamondclean hasn’t. For a $200 toothbrush they should have included this on their ”feature arsenal”.

2 Minute Timer and Quadpacer:

Both Toothbrushes include a two-minute timer that notifies you when the two minutes brushing is over which we consider to be one of the most important features an electric toothbrush should have.

Both toothbrushes feature a Quadpacer.

The Quadpacer takes the guesswork out of when to move the brush from the outside of the teeth to the inside and from the upper teeth to the lower teeth. It beeps at 30-second intervals during the 2-minute brushing period, telling you when to move the toothbrush to the next section, thus making sure that you brush all sections of your mouth evenly and thoroughly. that notifies to change brushing

The problem with Oral B 7000 is that you need to have the application enabled and your smart phone in front of you in order for the quadpacer feature to work for you.

Imagine waking up in the morning and having to actually get your smart phone is front of you, turn on the application in order to brush your teeth and use this feature. Two much hassle for me at least.

So, although Oral B 7000 has a quadpacer we give our +1 on Philips Sonicare Diamondclean for making our lives much easier when it comes to this feature.

Most products last a bit more than 2 years – after the warranty ends. Everyone knows that. So, I’m not sure if I or anyone from our editorial team, would ever spend more than $100 for an electric toothbrush. That’s why we wrote an article last week about the best electric toothbrushes under £50, which we recommend to read.

With that in mind, I personally would choose the cheaper one and that’s Oral B 7000.

Now, I’m not saying that you should to.. After all, you came here in the first place already willing to spend a bit more for your oral treatment.

So, I’m not going to put ”my point to any of the two toothbrushes.

So, we’ve come to the end of this article and we hope that we helped you enough to make a reasonable and wise decision.

Here’s a summary of our comments:

  • Prefer cheaper electric toothbrushes.
  • Don’t like the bad comments we discovered about Oral B’s Battery.
  • Both toothbrushes have sleek designs but Philips Diamondclean comes in more colors. Fo example you can buy the pink one for your daughter or the amethyst one for your wife. (very classy..)
  • We really don’t care about how many cleaning modes each toothbrush has. (Marketing ”spoof”)
  • Oral B 7000 Smartseries is more powerful with 48 000 movements per minute, but Philips Diamondclean’s 31 000 strokes are more than enough. (at least for us)
  • We love that both toothbrushes offer a two minutes timer.
  • We prefer Diamondclean’s Quadpacer than Oral B’s.
  • We love the Super High tech feeling of connecting your toothbrush with your smartphone.
  • We like the pressure sensor that Oral B has.

Now it’s up to you to decide.
